The Tiring Trip to Pondicherry! #together

April 8, 2015 by Abhishek Tanwar

Life is short and we need to make it worthwhile. There are plenty of mundane things that we need to do to survive in this world but one of the few things we can do to bring meaning to our existence is being with loved ones. There are some lucky people out there who are born into a wonderful family that loves them unconditionally and there are others who build a family outside of their blood ties, no matter how you create this family, all of us need a close knit group of people we can share our joys and sorrows with.

I am one of those lucky individuals born into a loving family and luckier still to have an amazing group of friends. My friends and I are quite different in many ways but we share our love for bike riding! So whenever we want to spend some time and recharge our batteries, we plan for a bike trip and thanks to mother nature, Bangalore has plenty of weekend destinations for riders like us!

One such memorable trip was to Pondicherry where 5 of us went on our bikes to make this trip of 3 days. Two of my friends decided to be pillion riders while I with two more friends decided to drive the 10 hour ride like a boss!

We left early in the wee hours of Friday morning taking full advantage of the long weekend. We took a pit stop 3 hours into the drive and even though we were all excited for the trip, one of my friend cramped his leg. He was unsure about the trip then but decided to accompany us. After breakfast we went on our way to cover the rest of the distance taking two more breaks.

I had arranged for the stay at a friend’s penthouse suite so we went directly to the place once we reached in the evening. We had Pizza delivered to us at the apartment and freshened up to go to the beach. My friend, who had cramped his leg, decided to stay back. We played at the beach and watched the sunset. After dinner we played cards and close to midnight decided to retire to our beds. My friend left the next morning in a bus for Bangalore, he has always been a crazy one so I cannot decipher why he returned instead of experiencing Pondicherry. Anyway. We explored major tourist spots on Saturday and again played cards in the night. We were so tired that all of us woke up around noon on Sunday and left for Bangalore immediately after brunch.

We reached home late Sunday night and crashed into our beds for a short nap before starting the work week! It was the longest ride of my life and the most cherished memory amongst all of my bike trips. When I told about my “little” trip to Pondicherry, my girlfriend was surprised that I was refreshed from that “tiring” trip. What can I say… boys will be boys?
